Tropical night in several places in the north – risk of forest fire – news Nordland

– The whole of Nordland has had very good night temperatures. When you start to have night temperatures like a good northern Norwegian summer day, then it’s nice and warm. This is what meteorologist on duty, Rune Skoglund told news. Shortly after eight o’clock on Monday morning, Skoglund goes through the night’s temperatures and mentions in succession: – Skrova, Tjøtta, Brønnøysund, Svolvær, Glomfjord, Vega, Lurøy, Sandnessjøen. All eight stations recorded tropical night. A total of three counties in Norway were able to sweat through the night. In Sandnessjøen, there were probably many people who had to take off their duvets. The minimum temperature there was 22.1 degrees, says Skoglund. The highest temperature was measured in Evenes. The temperature there was up to 24.2 degrees. A tropical night was recorded at several stations on the night of Monday. Then the thermometer showed well over 20 degrees in 28 places in the country. – Quite rare Namsos in Trøndelag also got tropical night. In Troms there were two places where a tropical night was reported: Harstad and Måsvik. – As far as Finnmark is concerned, there was probably nowhere that had a tropical night. Hammerfest was not too far away. But no tropical nights in Finnmark. No tropical night was recorded in Bodø either. – Bodø had temperatures below 20 degrees last night. Not much, but still. – There is absolutely nothing to complain about. Apart from the fact that some people might think that it gets a bit warm. Breitinden, or Stortinden at Søvik in Alstahaug municipality. But you can say that it is quite rare. Because you never get it in the period from September to June. Forest fire danger The average temperature in June has been above what is normal for several places in northern Norway. The region has been the weather winners so far this summer. But it has its price. After a long period of high temperatures and little rainfall, Yr issued a forest fire warning. The danger warning is at yellow level and applies to northern parts of Nordland as well as Finnmark and Troms. The vegetation can easily ignite and large areas can be affected, writes Yr. On-duty meteorologist Sevim Müller tells about small gale-prone places in Nordland. – Pay attention to that. A lot of wind spreads fire quickly, says Müller. Expect precipitation in the north – It will be nice and warm throughout northern Norway today, but tomorrow the precipitation will come, reassures Skoglund and adds: – It can quickly add up to 10-15 mm. It was hot in Bodø on the night of Monday. At two o’clock on the night of Monday, 19.4 degrees was recorded and thus no tropical night. Photo: Robert Jentoft The rain is already coming this afternoon in Helgeland. – Tomorrow it will probably rain in the south, and eventually it will come north. The temperature will gradually drop as the precipitation comes in. Published 22.07.2024, at 10.30 Updated 22.07.2024, at 10.49
