The police believe seven fires were set. Sonja Irene Tverli had her garage burnt down – news Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

– It is terrifying. We feel unsafe. There will be little sleep at night. That’s what Sonja Irene Tverli says to news on Saturday morning. Just before midnight there was another fire on the island of Frøya in Trøndelag – the seventh fire since 9 July. On the night of Saturday there was a fire outside the village house Ungdomshuset on Dyrøya on Frøya. The hearth was in twigs outside the house. No one was injured. The same applies to the other six fires that have occurred recently. The police believe that all seven are accused, and put them in context. They are now working hard to find out who is behind it. But so far they don’t have a single suspect. These are the seven fires July 9: Fire on the uninhabited islet Langøya July 9: Fire on a nearby uninhabited islet July 14: Fire in a tool shed on Norddyrøy July 16: Heavy fire in a garage Norddyrøy July 18: Elm fire in a holiday home on Norddyrøy 18 July: Approach to a fire in a border house on Norddyrøy 20 July: Fire outside the Youth Center on Dyrøya There is a short distance between the fires, and the police are linking them. The garage burned down Sonja Irene Tverli was on her way to bed when she noticed an unusual light outside the window. – There was supposed to be neither sunset nor sunrise at this time, so I looked out. Then I saw that the whole garage was about to catch fire. I was shocked. Sonja Irene Tverli and her husband Ståle have ordered surveillance cameras after their garage burned down earlier this week. Photo: Sonja Irene Tverli She woke her husband and called the fire brigade. – Ten minutes after I called, the garage was almost burnt down, she says to news. It is the fires that occupy the local population right now, according to Tverli: – Everyone is terribly wondering who is behind it. I am absolutely sure that there is a connection – the police say so too. This cannot be accidental. It’s not possible. Sonja Iren Tverli discovered that the garage was fully engulfed in flames on the night of Tuesday. It must have taken ten minutes from the time she called the fire service until the garage was, so to speak, burnt down. Now there are only ruins left. The fire service is out at night In recent nights, some of those who live in the area have been cycling around in the hope of catching someone red-handed. In addition, the local fire service patrols every night. So far, it has not yielded results in terms of finding the perpetrators. – Fire watch at night can act as a deterrent. And that makes people feel safer. Many are wondering what is going on now. It is no wonder that people are insecure and restless, says Mayor Kristin Furunes Strømskag (H). The fire brigade and police rushed to the village house in Frøya on the night of Saturday. Photo: Ronny Dybdahl Asking people to come forward with tips and lock their cellar – It is natural that the police see the fires in context. All the fires have been within a limited geographical area, says Randi Småland, head of police investigations at Felles criminal case intake in the Police in Trøndelag. The police are asking anyone with tips or possibly surveillance images to contact the police’s tip line: 73489400. – We are interested in all tips concerning people or vehicles, says Småland. Operations manager in the Police in Trøndelag, Else Stokkebø, makes a call: – People must think about what they have lying around outside their houses. Mayor Strømskag also asks people to lock their basements. – It is very sad that we have to ask people to take such measures, but everyone should take the measures they can. As far as I know, we have never experienced anything like this on Frøya before. People are of course very concerned about this, and I fully understand that, she says.
