– It seems very strange – news Trøndelag – Local news, TV and radio

– A house owner calls us and says that he sees that there is soot and that it is very hot in the house. That’s according to operations manager Ebbe Kimo in Trøndelag police district. At the same time, the emergency services were notified of a fire in a nearby village house. – This seems very strange. The police and fire service are investigating the fires on Thursday. Photo: Ronny Teigås The police do not rule out that there is a connection between these two fires as well. – There is no obvious cause of fire in any of these places, adds Kimo. – Could it be arson? – Yes, it certainly can be. It’s something we have to do some research on. Six fires in ten days With the two fires today, there have been six fires on Frøya in just ten days. – There is a relatively short distance between all these fires, says the operations manager. The police see no logical reason for the fires to have started. That is why they are already investigating. – Due to the fact that there is such a short time between the incidents, and that they are so close to each other, I suspect that it is the same perpetrator. This was said by Police Superintendent Helene Glømmen Skuland at Hitra police station earlier this week. So far, the police have no suspects in the case. A garage burned down on Tuesday night. The police see the fire in connection with the other fires that have occurred in Frøya recently. Photo: Ronny Teigås Suspects that they have been set on fire On the 9th of July, two islets started to burn at short intervals. – There is no residential area nearby, and there is no current on the islands either. That’s why I suspect it’s arson. There is nothing else that indicates that a fire will start there, says Skuland. Just five days later, a fire started in an outbuilding nearby. This building was not connected to electricity either. On Tuesday night there was a fire in a garage about 200 meters away. Skuland says that there was no electricity in the part of the garage that started to burn. And then it started to burn in two places on Thursday. – It is naive to think that this has no connection, adds the operations manager. There is a short distance between all the fires that have occurred recently. Asking for tips – So far we have been out on site and carried out crime scene investigations. I have spoken to the witness. Interviewed both the witness and the fire brigade who were at the scene, says Skuland. The police have no suspected perpetrator yet, and are asking for tips. – If there is anyone who has seen or heard anything that can shed light on the matter, or if there is anyone with information that can help us, then I would like to be contacted.
