A woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene, a man in his 50s was arrested and charged with murder. – We heard a bit of screaming and a bit of life in there. Then it was quiet, before he came out with red hands, wondering if I had a lighter, because he was going to have a smoke. This is what one of the closest neighbors at the campsite tells news. He wishes to remain anonymous, but news is aware of his identity. Soon after, the neighbor’s wife came out with a lighter. She then allegedly asked the man in his 50s why his hands were red, and what had happened. – Then he told me that he had killed her, says the neighbour. Police attorney Benedicte Granrud tells news. – The accused has not been questioned, but an interrogation will be carried out tomorrow, says Granrud. Among other things, they have investigated the crime scene and secured clues. – Several witness interviews have also been carried out at the scene, and we are in the process of gathering technical evidence, says Granrud. – Were there any witnesses who saw the actual murder? – I do not want to comment on what evidence the police currently have, but several witness interviews have been carried out. Nor will Granrud confirm whether they have seized the presumed murder weapon. Known to the police from the past The police said on Tuesday evening that the accused man is known to the police from the past. According to what news learns, he has previously been convicted of several cases of violence and threats. He has also been convicted of minor thefts and drug crimes, according to news’s information.
