Thrown firebombs at the Castle – will try to question the accused today – Greater Oslo

– The police will try to question the accused today, where we will hopefully be able to get more information about the motive. This is what police attorney Jenny Solgaard writes in an e-mail to news. The accused man is a Belarusian citizen and is already wanted in the Netherlands. – What is he wanted for? – We do not want to go into more detail about what this action consists of at the present time, writes Solgaard. According to the police attorney, the man is not currently in custody. – We are making an ongoing assessment of this for a possible presentation of him tomorrow. Throw Molotov cocktails Just before one o’clock on Monday afternoon, the police were alerted to a man on Holbergsplass in Oslo, who had told another man that he had a bomb. Shortly afterwards he threw two Molotov cocktails at a door at the back of the Castle. – The police were nearby, so when he threw the second firebomb we were able to arrest him immediately. Task leader Anders Rønning said this to news on Monday afternoon. Communications Manager at the Palace, Guri Varpe, has confirmed that a member of the royal family was at the Palace when the firebombs were thrown. It should not be about anyone in the crown prince’s family or the royal couple. Photo: Cicilie Andersen / news Published 09.07.2024, at 09.59 Updated 09.07.2024, at 10.05
