This summer we have seen a small upsurge of covid-19 in Norway. According to the weekly report from FHI that came last week, we have now passed the peak of this summer wave. We are also seeing a decrease in hospital admissions with covid-19, mainly in recent weeks. At the same time, FHI encouraged the municipalities to offer a fourth dose to those who live in nursing homes and those over 75 already this summer. The head of the infection control department in Ringerike municipality, Kristin Salvesen Molstad Andresen, says they have had a busy summer. When FHI encouraged us to get started sooner, we did it, says head of the infection control department in Ringerike, Kristin Salvesen Molstad Andresen, to news. Many who say yes The first patients received the fourth dose as early as November last year, statistics from FHI show. But at the beginning of July, the number of vaccinated people dropped. On Wednesday, 128,000 people had received a fourth dose. In Ringerike municipality too, there are many who have accepted the offer of a refresher dose. He says it was okay to get it done now. – That’s good, that. Then you don’t have to go around thinking about it. Then it’s probably all right. Are you worried about getting infected? – No. It’s been going well so far, so I expect it will continue to go well too, he says. Summer travel It has been challenging for some municipalities to start a new round of corona vaccines at the same time as many employees are on holiday. And on top of this, the demand for travel vaccines is also increasing. But for Ringerike, this has gone well, says Andresen. – We have managed to bring in a little more staff to be on standby, so that we have a little extra staffing this summer compared to previous summers. And then we get help from colleagues who are health nurses, preferably at school, who have a little extra time this summer. In September, new groups will be offered a fourth dose of corona vaccines. Then it is everyone over the age of 65 and those with underlying illnesses who have their turn. It has not yet been decided whether other groups will receive offers after that.
