28 July 2022 at 19:09 Barcelona won the tug of war over Koundé Sevilla and Barcelona have reached an agreement on a transfer for Jules Koundé. Once again, the Catalans secure a player who was highly relevant to Chelsea. Barcelona confirms the agreement on its website. They do not disclose the transfer fee. They also write that the medical test and the signing of the contract still remain before the transfer is finalized. Koundé has impressed for Sevilla since he arrived at the club in 2019 and has been sought after by several clubs during the summer transfer window. Chelsea have been looking for Koundé since last summer, but the Frenchman wanted to go to Barcelona. The Catalans also pounced on Raphinha in front of the noses of Chelsea, who earlier this summer were interested in both Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembélé. Both ended up signing for Barcelona. In addition, Barcelona brought in centre-back Andreas Christensen as a boss player from Chelsea. Koundé and Christensen strengthen the Barcelona defence, with Clément Lenglet on loan at Tottenham and with Samuel Umtiti at the Camp Nou. Franck Kessié was Barcelona’s very first summer signing. He came as a midfielder from Milan, despite interest from Chelsea. (© NTB)
