Over 8,000 toddlers acutely malnourished in the Gaza Strip – Latest news – news

13 June 2024 at 08:27 WHO: Over 8,000 toddlers acutely malnourished in the Gaza Strip Over 8,000 children under the age of five have been treated for acute malnutrition since the war broke out, the World Health Organization (WHO) says. 28 of the children are now dead, writes NTB. Despite reports that food is being delivered to the area, there is no evidence that the food is reaching those who need it most, says WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. He states that a significant proportion of Gaza’s population is now facing catastrophic hunger and famine-like conditions. Among the more than 8,000 young children who have been treated for acute malnutrition, 1,600 suffer from severe acute malnutrition – also called “wasting” – the deadliest form of malnutrition.
