The agreement means that an additional pasture of the same quality as the lost winter pasture at Roan will be established. This is revealed in a press release signed by Terje Haugen, Elise Holtan Pavall and Sissel Holtan. – We would have liked to have fought on to win again in the Supreme Court, both for ourselves, for other reindeer herders and for the rule of law, but then reindeer herding would have gone under in the meantime. In the press release, they write that they have experienced the process following the Supreme Court verdict as difficult. – This has been a burdensome and difficult matter, especially for the families who run the reindeer herding at Fosen. I am happy that the parties have agreed on a future-oriented solution that safeguards the reindeer husbandry’s rights. The agreement between the parties makes it possible for new generations to see the possibilities of continuing reindeer herding, says Energy Minister Terje Aasland. Use of additional area In the same way as in the agreement in Sør-Fosen that was entered into before Christmas, it is planned that Nord-Fosen will now be able to use an additional area for winter grazing outside the Fosen reindeer herding district. The Ministry of Energy has already started an investigation process to identify possible areas as a result of the agreement at Sør-Fosen. Nord-Fosen siida agrees to Roan Vind being given access to continue using the area at Roan for wind power production for the remainder of the concession period. After the end of the concession period, it has been agreed that Nord-Fosen will always have veto rights over the wind power plant’s further operation. This means that the licensees cannot apply for an extension or renewal of the concession without consent from Nord-Fosen siida. The Government writes this on its website.
