25 July 2022 at 23:57 Zelenskyi fires head of special forces Major General Hryhorij Halahan has been fired by Volodymyr Zelenskyi as head of the Ukrainian special forces in Eastern Ukraine after the loss of large areas. Zelenskyj replaces Halahan with Viktor Horenko as commander of the Ukrainian special forces in Donetsk and Luhansk. 44-year-old Halahan has held the role since August 2020. The dismissal comes after new areas in Luhansk and Donetsk have been occupied by Russian forces. Recently, Zelenskyi has fired several high-ranking employees, including the head of the country’s security service. (NTB)
