23 February 2024 at 14:41 Biathlon: WC gold for Norway’s junior team The Norwegian junior team with Sivert Gerhardsen, Isak Frey, Marie Sofie Brännare-Gran and Gro Randby won the WC in the mixed biathlon relay in Estonia. It was an exciting finish after Randby had to go out in two penalty rounds in standing shooting. The Germans took the silver, beaten by 13.3 seconds, while the bronze went to Austria. The Tromsø boy Gerhardsen used one extra shot, and despite two extra shots standing up, he went out with a narrow lead. Frey also used one extra shot on the lay-up, but the Bærum talent knocked down all five flashing on the stand-up and gave Norway a gap of almost one minute before the girls had to go into action. The Bærum girl Brännare-Gran used one extra shot lying down and two standing before she alternated 1.24 minutes ahead of Poland. Anchorwoman Gro Randby, who comes from the Re-klubben Ivrig, used one extra shot in prone shooting, but she had problems in standing. The distance to Germany shrank sharply, but it held gold. (© NTB)
