– He pressed my ass towards him – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

– We are in defence, and there is a player very close behind me. Normally I wouldn’t react to that, but here he grabs my hips and presses my ass against him. This is what basketball player Helén Snø Greenwood told news, after the club she is playing team manager for, Kristiansand Pirates 1 in the senior series, met another team for a match last year. Pirates do not have their own women’s team, which means that Greenwood has chosen to play with men. In the match last year, the female basketball player was to experience what she refers to as sexual harassment, threats and hate crime. Just a few days after the match, she decided to file a police report at the local police station. The Norwegian Basketball Association quickly addressed the situation as soon as they heard about it, and launched an investigation into the matter. According to Greenwood, the case is still ongoing with the police. news has not been successful in getting an answer from the police regarding the status of the case. – I started playing basketball at the end of primary school. It was never strange to play with the boys, says Greenwood. Photo: Privat Does not find documentation The association has not found documentation that several of the alleged incidents have occurred in its investigation of the case. “The investigations have revealed that there has been a derogatory call from the stands, aimed at one particular player. This call is very deplorable behavior that is not accepted. The incident was reported to NBBF and will be taken up with the organizing club” “Furthermore, the conclusion is that it has not been documented that the alleged incidents of violence, threats and sexual harassment have taken place. NBBF will therefore not pursue this further”. When Greenwood was allowed to read the report, she reacted with frustration at not being believed. – You can’t trust the association. You cannot trust the referees or the coaches. Sorry. It is very sad, but as of today it is completely clear and obvious. It is a huge mistake that they believe that the events never took place. Photo: Kristiansand Pirates – I got a couple of elbows in the face The match that led to both a police report and a report from the association describes Greenwood as a very physical match. A match where she believes the opponents make use of ugly and dangerous tackles. – I got a couple of elbows in the face. Quite strong elbows, she says. One of the players on the opposing team is said to have patted her on the cheek and said that she did not belong in the men’s league, as she was just a “little girl”. According to Greenwood, several people on her team were surprised by how hard it was. During the break, she decided to go to the coach of the opposing team to tell her. Here she explains that the trainer just turned around and asked her to get away from his zone. – My teammates tried to stop them by saying they had to calm down. Then she says that they were met with a simple: “Shut the fuck up”. news has been in contact with the coach, who does not want to comment on the matter. Left the secretariat Former national team player and current Pirates player, Jakob Baiden, sat in the secretariat during the match. In protest, he decided to leave the station during the match because he could not vouch for what happened out on the pitch. – What I saw was that the players on the other team were unnecessarily physically ugly with him. It was unnecessary. They were so much bigger and stronger than her. It was also unnecessary because they led by so many points the whole match, says Baiden. He did not understand why the players chose to do this. Basketball player Jakob Baiden sat in the secretariat during the game and reacted to what he saw. Photo: private – I also heard that the referees started shouting “ladyboy” at her every time she came onto the pitch, claims Baiden. That’s when he got up and left. He didn’t want to help in the secretariat anymore. – I told the coach of the opposing team after the match that I was ashamed if it was my team. It’s disgusting. Misogyny surrounds us, and men can often get away with it, Baiden believes. Hevdar’s player grabbed his hips. The incident that really got the glass flowing was when the 33-year-old stood up in defense in the second half. As mentioned in the introduction, Greenwood claims it was a player who grabbed her hips and pressed her bottom against him. She claims that the two referees on the pitch let it all pass, and that one of them must have covered his ear when a member of the audience is said to have shouted the transphobic term “ladyboy” several times. news has been in contact with both judges. They do not wish to comment on the case. Hela Snø Greenwood sits second from the right on the bottom row, together with the rest of Kristiansand Pirates 1 from the senior series. – I see the association as cowards. news was early on in contact with the president of the Norwegian Basketball Association, Jan Hendrik Parmann. Out of consideration for the investigation of the case, the union would not comment at first. Just before the New Year, the aforementioned report came out. The final conclusion, in which the association has not found documentation for several of Greenwood’s and Baiden’s experiences, has made them both very frustrated. Baiden was so dissatisfied with both what came out in the final report from the union and how they have handled the case, that he decided to write a long and open letter to the union on Facebook, where he wrote this, among other things: “I have had to reconsider whether I think it is justifiable to encourage others to take part in our sport, whether I think it is justifiable to invite players to matches where they can be exposed to gross abuse without any form of consequence or accommodation.” – I see the Norwegian Basketball Association as cowards, says Greenwood. The union, for its part, stands by its position that no evidence has been found that the incidents should have taken place, and is adamant that they have carried out a thorough investigation of the case.
