The 30-year-old writes that throughout the championship they had “fantastic” access to almost all the races via live streaming. But she adds a big “but”: Nothing was shown from the women’s slalom or giant slalom, despite the fact that the men’s races in the same disciplines were shown. She says that her thoughts went to both the athletes, who must feel that they are competing in a second-class event, but also the families and sponsors who did not get to see their own compete. – The Junior WC is a milestone at that age and it can be a springboard for athletes in terms of sponsors and the like. Expect regret Haver-Løseth had slalom and giant slalom as his main disciplines in his active career. She thinks the sport has been good at setting the conditions the same, but that this is a step backwards for the sport. – I do not think this is acceptable behavior from FIS. It goes without saying that this should be in place in 2024, says Haver-Løseth. – They send a signal that is very bad for those who are on the way up in sport. TV coverage is important to promote sponsors and not least to show equality in sport. I hope FIS takes this into account and cleans up what they have created. Therefore, this becomes a lack of character and I wonder why they choose to do this, says Tviberg to news. – I hope FIS will eventually take the leaf out of their mouths and come up with a public apology and an extremely good reason why they did this. The championship took place in the same arena as the boys and I see absolutely no reason why they should do this. – Taking the feedback as a reminder Not long after Guest published the post, FIS made a comment under the post on Instagram and wrote the following: – Dear Charlie. We recognize that live streaming of only the men’s slalom and giant slalom is not in line with FIS’s values of equal opportunities and gender balance. The FIS should have pushed harder to give the same exposure opportunities to women as to men, and we take your feedback as a reminder to stay true to developing and promoting female participation going forward. Several expressed in the comment section that the answer did not hold. Guest was also disappointed, and like Tviberg, she wants an apology. They write that they have received many comments from performers and fans about the lack of gender balance in the live streams.
