3 February 2024 at 09:25 Armed groups in Iraq and Syria say they have attacked bases with Western soldiers The armed group Islamic Resistance in Iraq says they have attacked the Al-Harir base in northern Iraq, reports Reuters. There are American soldiers at the base. At the same time, NTB writes that a base in Iraq and a base in Syria have been attacked by Iran-backed militia groups. On one of them there are Norwegian soldiers. Militia sources tell Al Jazeera that in the morning they attacked the al-Tanf base in Syria and the Ain al-Asad base in western Iraq. Both bases house American soldiers. The US has not confirmed the attacks, and sources to Reuters have denied that attacks have taken place on the al-Harir base. The Norwegian defense denies that there has been an attack on the Ain al-Asad base. The Ain al-Asad base in Anbar province is guarded by around 30 Norwegian soldiers and has been subjected to a number of similar attacks in the past. (news/NTB)
