– It is probably neither a very good nor a very bad summer, but a bit in the middle of the tree. That is what state meteorologist Ingvild Villa at the Meteorological Institute can say about this year’s summer weather so far. Towards the weekend, Eastern Norway may offer danger warnings for both forest fires and torrential rain. The heavy rain showers can last until 8pm on Friday. – Right now there are quite heavy showers in the far east at the Swedish border. It’s going down quite well, says state meteorologist Ingvild Villa at the Meteorological Institute. At 10 o’clock the weather station at Hellerud in Viken was on top with 11 millimeters of rainfall in one hour. It is still early in the incident, says Villa. – Eleven millimeters in one hour is significant. You can tell, she says. In Eastern Norway towards the Swedish border, there will be a lot of rain on Friday. Photo: Meteorological Institute The Meteorological Institute reports on Twitter that there may locally be more than 20 millimeters of rain within an hour on Friday. – Heavy rainfall has been reported in places throughout the day and we therefore encourage road users to drive according to the conditions and reduce speed to minimize the risk of aquaplaning, Vegtrafikksentralen East writes on Twitter on Friday. – It doesn’t look like it will be a long-lasting summer. In several places in the country, you will have to make do with gray weather in the future. – It is permissible to hope, even if it does not look so promising in the long-term forecast for several people, says Villa. The weather this weekend will be changeable in large parts of the country. Large parts of the country will be gray on Friday. Western Norway can offer nice weather. Photo: Meteorological Institute In Trøndelag and northern Norway there will be thunderstorms and gray weather. In Western Norway, there will be a pause over the weekend, before a low pressure creeps in from the southwest towards Møre and Romsdal overnight to Monday, which may bring more precipitation. Northern Norway, Trøndelag and Western Norway get a small taste of higher temperatures on Monday and Tuesday. – But it doesn’t look like it will be a long summer at first, says Villa. In Eastern Norway, it may appear that temperatures will rise towards the end of the month, but uncertainty is great, according to the state meteorologist. Empty the drains There are danger warnings in several places in the country on Friday. In several places along the coast in Western Norway, there is a yellow warning against gales, with wind gusts of 15 meters per second. In parts of Agder and Eastern Norway, there is a yellow warning for forest fire. The danger warning has been out for a long time and still applies, says Villa. She recommends being careful with open flames and other things that can cause the vegetation to catch fire. – In the event of torrential rain, it is necessary to empty and clean drains, and follow the weather radar to see when a shower is on its way, concludes Villa.
