The reason they are considering this is that a lot of rainfall has been reported. – It will be slippery tomorrow. The reason is that the primary and secondary schools and nurseries are located in people’s immediate environment. – It is easier to get there. There are mostly short distances in Oslo, so it is different from the upper secondary schools, explains Solberg. To make the decision, the city council obtains advice from both the road authorities, the school sector, the public transport sector and its own emergency response agency. It was VG who first mentioned that they were considering closing the schools. Travel only if necessary. The City Council leader encourages those living in Oslo to follow the advice from the authorities. – If it turns out to be as slippery as it is now reported, then it is important that those who do not need to travel stay off the road, so that transport which is necessary to safeguard life and health can get there, says Solberg. Then the aid crews can also use their capacity to help those who need help. Slippery roads have been reported in Eastern Norway and parts of Agder. Here from the E6 near Vestby on Sunday. The reason was rain and freezing temperatures. Even though the Norwegian Public Roads Administration was out salting, it was slippery for a while because the salt did not have an immediate effect in some places. From Romerike, Vegtrafikksentralen also received many reports that people struggled with rain that froze to ice on the car route when they were out driving. – Several cars had to stop to scratch their windows. In such cases, VTS has the following advice: Stop at a suitable place, a bus shelter or a road shoulder, to avoid dangerous traffic situations. Put on a yellow vest so that other motorists become aware of you. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has received a report of water accumulation on the E39 near Lyngdal. – All the contractors are out and they are aware of it, so measures will be taken continuously, says the traffic operator in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. There is also a lot of water in the roadway on the E18 in Grimstad, in both directions. It must be clogged drains and a lot of snow on the side of the road that have created the challenges. This leads to the risk of aquaplaning. Over the last few days in Sørlandet, intensive work has been done to open the drains so that water can flow away from the road. Inland: – Consider whether you have to travel – The next few days may be demanding driving conditions on our county roads, and road users must consider the need for travel.
