10 January 2024 at 11:25 Viaplay’s crisis plan approved by extraordinary general meeting The owners of the crisis-hit streaming service Viaplay have agreed to the proposed rescue plan. The owners gave their approval to the plan at Wednesday’s extraordinary general meeting, writes Viaplay in a press release. With the decision, Viaplay’s owners – including the Norwegian major owner Schibsted – have approved a plan which means that through a targeted issue they give away almost all of their influence over the company to the new main owners, French Canal Plus and Czech PPF, reports the news agency TT. Viaplay wants to raise NOK 4 billion in new capital by issuing new shares. In addition, there is a large debt restructuring that the creditors opened up for at a meeting on Monday. Norske Schibsted owns approximately ten percent of the shares in Viaplay. TT writes that the Norwegian media company’s shares, which were bought for NOK 380 million, will become almost worthless if Wednesday’s rescue plan is adopted. (NTB)
