– The fuses blow in one set – news Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

On Saturday evening, over 1,500 households in Oslo were affected by power cuts. Seven other municipalities are also affected by power cuts on Saturday, Elvia writes on her website. Elvia informs Avisa Oslo that the cause of the power outage in Oslo must be a high-voltage fault in the area. – In Oslo, most people have got the electricity back now, says communications manager Morten Schau at Elvia. He adds that their power outage map is not updated minute by minute and is therefore not completely accurate. In Ward 2 at the centre, 17 seniors had to sit in the dark for an hour on Saturday evening while the power cut continued. – But everything went well and all the residents were calm. We had battery lights that we lit while it was dark, a healthcare worker on duty at the department tells news. Nearly 400 Norgesnett customers were also affected by power cuts in Fredrikstad, Ski and at Nesodden and Røyken. Overload The reason for the power outages is tripping fuses and general overload on the power grid, operational operations manager Ida Skauge for Norgesnett explains to news. The first week of January has been characterized by snow chaos and subsequent power problems in several places in the country. Now the record-breaking cold is creating more ripples on the power grid. – Considering the temperatures, it is only natural that people use a lot of electricity, but that means that the fuses blow in one set, says Skauge. In Fredrikstad, around 150 households are currently without electricity. – We have crews who are out and working continuously and fly between the various locations in Fredrikstad, Røyken, Ski and Nesodden. – Charges two electric cars at a time She says that Norgesnett has asked some customers to reduce their electricity consumption at the weekend. – We have received reports of customers charging two electric cars at a time while all have heating at the same time. Skauge urges the population to be careful with electricity use over the next few days. – Expanding capacity is a time-consuming process, so we cannot do that tonight. Then we run the risk of customers being without electricity overnight. Even if it is cold outside, you should try to limit the use a little – it only creates problems. The worst that can happen is that the overload becomes so great that there is a power outage for a long time. However, both insurance companies and plumbers warn against saving too much on electricity. This applies especially in rooms where water pipes run. The insurance companies Gjensidige, If and Storebrand have received a total of almost 200 claims in recent days. All the damage is linked to the blast cold in Eastern Norway, and it mainly concerns frozen pipes, water and water damage.
