The board of Helse Midt-Norge decided on Wednesday that the Health Platform will be introduced at the four hospitals in Møre and Romsdal from April as planned. This was adopted with six votes against the three employee representatives. The decision is completely contrary to what the director of Helse Møre og Romsdal, Olav Lødemel, and his board want. They believe it is too risky for patients and staff to adopt a new record system in April. Olav Lødemel, managing director of Helse Møre og Romsdal, took up the position on 1 December and got the Helseplattform case in his lap. It is worrying that the board of Helse Midt Noreg does not consider the thorough work that has been done in Møre and Romsdal. That’s what Igor Jokic says, who is trustee for the superiors at hospitals in the county and sits on the board of Helse Møre og Romsdal. Igor Jokic. Photo: Terje Reite / news He is now afraid that several of his colleagues will quit if they have to use a record system that does not work as it should. – I fear that people will quit. I also fear that younger colleagues, who could still be with us for a few years, will go on to university hospitals for specialization before they had thought, he says. Jokic also believes that Helse Midt has now taken on a great responsibility with this decision. – They take on full responsibility for patient safety in Møre and Romsdal by introducing the Health Platform with this decision, he says. Anne-Karin Rime, president of the Medical Association. Photo: Remi Sagen / news The president of the Medical Association, Anne-Kari Rime, also reacts strongly to the decision. – This is sensational, and testifies to a totally different perception of reality. It is highly timely to question whether the board of Helse Midt Noreg understands the consequences of today’s decision. She writes in the press release that Helse-Midt is throwing the entire region into a dramatic situation where patient safety and the employees’ working environment are sacrificed in favor of finances. – Dangerous – I have received emojis from employees at the hospital, and they are not smiling, to put it that way, says Tore Schytte, trade union representative for the Trade Union and board member of Helse Møre og Romsdal. – Helse-Midt takes the economic perspective in the assessment surrounding the introduction of the Health Platform in Møre og Romsdal. We have done thorough work on the risk assessments, and they clearly show that it is dangerous to use the platform in its current form. Tore Schytte Photo: Hans-Olav Landsverk / news He says there are a few months until April comes, but that there will be major complications if it is to be safe for the patients by then. They do not believe that they managed to carry out the improvements at that time. – It is terribly sad that the population and employees in Møre and Romsdal do not get a modern system, which is worthy of our age. – Because it’s not the Health platform? – Not the way it looks now, no, replies Schytte. Here is the decision of the board of Helse Midt-Norge This is the proposal for a decision that is presented: 1. The board of Helse Midt-Norge recognizes the risk and vulnerability analysis that Helse Møre og Romsdal has carried out as of November 2023, and the uncertainty that employees in the health company experiences linked to the introduction of the Health Platform. 2. A postponement of the introduction of the Health Platform for two years will have major consequences for the specialist health service in Central Norway. The board of Helse Midt-Norge asks the managing director to implement measures that will facilitate the maintenance of the original implementation plan with possible adaptations, while at the same time safeguarding patient safety. 3. In order to strengthen the operational situation in connection with the introduction of the Health Platform, the board of Helse Midt-Norge RHF Helse Møre and Romsdal HF allocates NOK 30 million in 2023 and a framework for additional measures of up to NOK 30 million in 2024.
