On Thursday afternoon, two employees at the Saupstad health center in Trondheim were attacked with a sharp object. The persons were sent to St. Olav’s hospital. They should not be life-threatening injuries. – There are many witnesses to this, there are approximately 20-30 eyewitnesses who have seen the incident. They will be looked after by health personnel, a doctor and the municipality’s crisis team. That will be done first, and then we will debrief after that. The focus now will be to uncover the sequence of events, secure evidence, question the suspects and witnesses to the incident. The police add that there is a limit to how much information they can release with this early in the investigation. – We do not want to disclose anything about the weapon that was used. We have many witnesses to be questioned yet and we do not want them to be influenced in their testimony, says police attorney Silje Iren Mebust. This is a very serious situation. That’s what Harry Tiller, head of communications in Trondheim municipality, says. He says that the municipality has been notified and has set up a crisis team. – The health station’s management is on the way up to handle the situation and follow up the employees, he says to Nidaros. The health center is closed for the rest of the day. – The working environment unit is connected to monitor employees. The child and family service Heimdal will be closed on Friday to take care of staff. – It is natural that the municipality must sit down and discuss our routines and safety for our employees, says Tiller. – A family in the system Annika Bjørnstrøm is municipal manager for children and family services in Trondheim municipality. She has not yet met the employees herself, but has received feedback that everyone should be well looked after. – But it is clear that the incident is very serious and upsetting. It does something to people to be in such a situation. Bjørnstrøm cannot say anything about the sequence of events, but she confirms that it is a matter of a well-known family in the system. She says they are happy that the perpetrator has been taken care of. – The fact that the perpetrator has been caught means that we can look at the aftermath in a different way.
