Seven men whom the prosecutor links to the MC club are on trial in the Oslo district court. All deny guilt for the gross violence that occurred on 3 December last year on Solsiden in Lillestrøm. – We will hear a lot about Satudarah in this case. The police believe it is a criminal organisation, says prosecutor Andreas Strand in his opening statement in Oslo district court. The public prosecutor believes the seven are either members or acted on behalf of the Satudarah MC (SMC). PROSECUTOR: State Attorney Andreas Strand. And precisely security would later become a topic. Serious violence and weapon storage All seven men have been charged with serious violence against a man. One of the defenders informs the court that it is not illegal to be present in a place where violence is committed. According to the indictment, the seven men hit the victim in the face with an iron bar and a broken glass bottle. They also stabbed him in the hand, elbow, thigh and back with a knife. While the man was lying down, they allegedly also hit and kicked him repeatedly. ASSISTANCE LAWYER: Trond Eirik Aansløkken is assisting the man who was subjected to the worst violence. Photo: Ola Mjaaland / news The man suffered, among other things, several cuts and was on sick leave for almost three months. – I cannot feel the thigh of my left leg. I can’t feel my thumb either. I have regained some mobility, but when it is cold there is less mobility in the thumb, says the man in court. He also says that he has radiations of pain in the places where he is injured. – I tried to de-escalate the situation. And then more people came and attacked me and stabbed me, the man explains in court. – Considering what they did, they were probably a bit rushed. – They pointed at me and said “take him, kill him”, says the man. The man explains that he was greatly reduced and lost a lot of blood during the incident. He says he played unconscious in the end to stop the violence. He also believes that he would have been stabbed in the throat if it wasn’t for a maneuver he managed to do with his hand. Think the defendants got the wrong people The man cannot understand why he was attacked. – He says in court that he has never met them before, and it is totally incomprehensible why he was attacked this night, says aid lawyer Trond Eirik Aansløkken to news. One of the seven accused men is also accused of hitting the friend of the most injured man prior to the gross violence. The defendant acknowledges this. Both victims say that several of the men who attacked them were masked. The comrade of the most injured person explains in court that he himself received a hard blow to the jaw: – He was the one who was seriously injured and rushed to Ullevål hospital. I took a taxi to Ullevål and was also quite bloody both on the chest and on the forehead, he says. He says that it started when he himself was accused of eyeing one of the defendants at the nightclub. He thinks they may have mistaken him. – We are civilized people who are both highly educated and who keep us busy with work and family. Unfortunately, we did not know what Satudarah was and do not wish any people any harm, he says. When asked by one of the defenders, he was asked to answer who led the attack. – I would say that it was a very coordinated attack. A targeted attack with the aim of harming, he says. In the investigation of the case, one of the accused men was also caught for keeping a revolver and ammunition. He acknowledges this. – Agenda The defense attorneys believe it is wrong that their clients are prosecuted as a group. – I ask the court not to be blinded by the evidence that will be brought against Satudarah MC and which will then be channeled down to this single incident on Solsiden on 3 December, says defense attorney Arild Langenes. WANT TO BAN: With the new law that came in 2021, the police want to ban the MC club Satudarah MC. The club did not use any logos or clothing like this during the attack last December. He reminds that a new case will come up later this year, and believes that the prosecution “has an agenda where they want to smear Satidarah as much as they can”. The case he is talking about comes up in mid-December and is an appeal case that the Borgarting Court of Appeal will hear. In May, Satudarah won the court case in which the public prosecutor wanted to ban the MC club. The police believe that the main purpose of Satudarah MC is to drive crime and would ban the club under a new law that allows for the banning of criminal associations. The judge restricted access to the courthouse On Tuesday, there were at least seven police officers who looked after the security around the defendants and victims. The case was moved from Romerike to Oslo, among other things for security reasons. The case started around 20 minutes late due to challenges in the security check on the way in. Already after the first break, what happened outside the courtroom became a topic. – One of the aggrieved parties must have approached my client and made something that was perceived as a verbal threat, says lawyer Oskar Ihlebæk, defending one of the men, in court. – What I have confirmed is that there has been an exchange of words between the parties here, and then we will leave it at that, says state attorney Strand to news. He says that this particular episode will have no aftermath. But as soon as the case started after the lunch break, the public prosecutor requested that the court expel people who have a criminal record and who stay at the courthouse. SECURITY: The police are present with at least seven officers to ensure security where seven defendants are in room 250 of the Oslo District Court. Photo: Ola Mjaaland / news – I am asking the court here to use the Courts Act to deport people who have criminal offenses on their records, for the sake of ensuring that the case can proceed properly, says Strand. He says that it can make it both unsafe, but also affect those who have to explain themselves. – There are a number of friends of the defendant who stay at the courthouse and outside the courthouse which is the reason, sums up the judge. After a round in court where both defenders and the police have spoken, the judge concluded. – We use the access provided by section 132 of the Courts Act to deny access to the courthouse to people who have been sentenced to a penalty in the past five years. There are certainly people with criminal records who have a good reason to be here in connection with other matters, says the judge. – But then they can account for it, adds one of the many police officers in the room. About ten people who were in room 250 got up and left when the judge was about to conclude. More cases The stabbing at Lillestrøm joins a long line of cases the police are investigating where the perpetrators are said to be connected to the Satudarah MC. On 15 January this year, two members of Young Guns, known from the gang milieu in Oslo, were shot and seriously injured. According to the police, both of the accused have ties to the MC club Satudarah, which the police now want to ban. Both men are charged with attempted murder or complicity in it after the shooting incident on the night of 15 January. The two were arrested in Italy on 20 January and extradited to Norway on 2 February.
