It was the sister of the man accused of murder in his 30s who was found dead in Hamar on Saturday evening. This is what the police in Innlandet write in a press release. The preliminary autopsy report shows that the woman died as a result of a gunshot wound. – The deceased was shot once. Death must have occurred instantaneously, says police attorney Tom Erik Wassenaar Berntsen in the press release. He further states that the police have seized a weapon, but are awaiting technical examinations of the weapon before they can say with certainty that the weapon was used. The accused man called the police himself when he was standing outside the police station. Aid attorney: The next of kin want peace of mind – The next of kin have of course had a terribly difficult time in recent days, says aid lawyer Elisabeth Viken to news. She goes on to say that the next of kin want as much peace as possible about the situation. – They do not want to comment on the matter at all, says Viken, and otherwise refers to the police report. According to the police, the scene of the murder is the accused’s home. The woman was found at the home of the accused. The man has acknowledged the murder of his sister, but has not decided on the issue of guilt. Defendant: – Has explained himself to the police The man’s defender, lawyer Helge Hartz, tells news that the accused is cooperating with the police and has explained his role. – In questioning, he has acknowledged the actual circumstances, and confirmed that he has shot and killed his sister. The lawyer believes in the meantime that the client should not plead guilty at the present time because the client should first be assessed by experts. – Has he said anything about why he did it? – As I said, he has explained himself to the police and given his reasons, but I do not want to go into that in more detail at the present time. Admitted to a psychiatric ward The accused is cared for by the healthcare system, and has been admitted to a psychiatric ward. The man has been remanded in custody for four weeks, two of the weeks with a ban on letters and visits. A primary psychiatric assessment has been carried out, and work is now continuing to obtain a complete assessment of whether the accused is criminally sane, said Berntsen. But when the police and ambulance were here he went to mum and said he had heard someone screaming. Then of course the police came and interviewed him, she told news.
