1 November 2023 at 19:09 Ruud’s play-off dream shattered Casper Ruud had to see himself beaten in straight sets by Francisco Cerundolo in the prestigious ATP Masters tournament in Paris. The Argentine won the match 7–5, 6–4. The Norwegian had to win the match and go far in Paris to fight for one of the eight places in the ATP playoffs, which will be played in Turin later in November. Ruud is ranked number eight in the world, but after the playoffs will “lose” the 800 points he took when he went all the way to the final last season. The loss in Paris also means that he ends up outside the top ten in the world ranking when it is updated on Monday. There he will be number eleven at best.
