Father made his daughter pregnant – now the police have dropped a new case against Sunnmøring – news Møre og Romsdal – Local news, TV and radio

A Sunnmørs man was sentenced to prison for four years last winter when his daughter told him that he had sexually exploited her for years. The abuse only stopped when she became pregnant, and gave birth to a child to whom he was both father and grandfather. But the man has several daughters, and during the trial the elder sister said that she too had been sexually exploited by the father. This led to the police reopening the investigation against the man. Now the State Attorney in Møre og Romsdal has decided that the case will be dropped. – It is difficult for me to accept, says the eldest sister, who is now in her 30s. She does not wish to be named, but news knows her identity. Claiming the abuse could have been prevented During the trial, the older sister blamed the police for not having intervened, and claimed that the abuse against the younger sister would never have happened if she herself had been believed. Already in the 90s, the man was in the police’s spotlight, but the case was put aside. – I have fought for 23 years to get him convicted, and I feel it is a slap in the face every time I get it put away, says the older sister. She says she feels that she has not been heard and struggles to trust the people around her. During the trial, her former legal aid lawyer, Ingelin Morken Gundersen, stated that the case has been dusted in a drawer. At the time, the police rejected the criticism. – Conflicting explanations The verdict against the man in his 60s led to the police deciding to reopen the case involving the older sister. The investigation has been going on for two years. Now the State Attorney in Møre og Romsdal has decided to put an end to it. – It is not possible to provide sufficient evidence to issue an indictment, this applies to allegations of abuse all the way back in the 90s, says state attorney Inger Myklebust. – Do they believe her? – The prosecution cannot decide who to believe, you have to see if the explanations and the other evidence are sufficient to convict someone. Here there are two conflicting explanations and we cannot claim that her version is correct, says Myklebust. State Attorney Inger Myklebust. She tries to look ahead, but is depressed that there will be no new trial against her father. – I won’t finish the case, I feel it will stick with me all the time, I won’t get closure, she says. The father’s lawyer, Andrea Wisløff, says he is satisfied that the case against his older daughter is now dropped. He denies criminal liability and denies that he has done what he is guilty of. He is currently in prison for assaulting his younger daughter.
