This is according to a new report from the Swiss Academy of Sciences, reports AFP. 6 percent of the glaciers disappeared in 2022 and a further 4 percent have disappeared during this year’s summer. The melting is due to two consecutive years of extreme heat in the Alps. It has melted as much in the last two years as in the 30 years up to 1990.
