12 September 2023 at 02:08 Fewer voted this year than four years ago, 62.2 percent of those eligible to vote in Norway chose to use their right to vote in this year’s municipal elections. It is worse than four years ago. With 99.7 percent of the votes counted at At 03.00, 2,639,682 votes had been cast in this year’s municipal elections. According to the Norwegian Electoral Directorate, this amounted to an expected turnout of 62.2. Worth noting is that around 48 percent of all votes were cast as advance votes, which is a new record. Not since 1983 has the turnout at municipal level been over 70 per cent (72.1).
