11 September 2023 at 08:01 SSB: Inflation rose by 4.8 per cent in August Inflation rose by 4.8 per cent in August. This is what Statistics Norway (SSB) writes in a press release on Monday morning. 4.8 per cent is lower than in previous months this year, but price growth is historically still at a record high level. The consumer price index is therefore 4.8 per cent higher than a year ago. Food prices fell by 0.8 per cent in the last four weeks, but are still 9.3 per cent higher than a year ago. – Last year we measured high price growth for electricity from July to August. This year the situation is the opposite. Electricity prices fell in most parts of the country from July to August. This is an important reason why the twelve-month growth in the CPI is going down, says Espen Kristiansen in Statistics Norway.
