The 41-year-old from Podgorica has never previously refereed Norway’s national team, but in recent years he has been responsible for European Cup matches with Norwegian teams several times. In March last year, he refereed Bodø/Glimt’s first round of 16 match against AZ Alkmaar in the league round of 16, where Ola Solbakken won the match with a controversial penalty kick in overtime. In February this year, he was match manager when Glimt lost 0-1 away to Lech Poznan in the first knockout round of the league and was eliminated. Last month, Dabanovic was the referee when Molde struggled to a 2-0 victory over Klaksvik in the Champions League’s 3rd qualifying round and progressed after extra time. In 2019, he refereed Norway’s 1-1 match against Ireland in the EC play-offs for G19 national teams. Markus Solbakken, Jørgen Strand Larsen and Marcus Holmgren Pedersen played for Norway that day. Dabanovic brings fellow countrymen Vladan Todorovic and Srdan Jovanovic as assistants, while Milos Boskovic is the fourth referee. The VAR referees are from Slovenia, Nejc Kajtazovic and Rade Obrenovic. (NTB)
