– This section is important for the whole of southern Norway. Today it is characterized by low standards, tunnels in great need of maintenance and upgrades and areas prone to landslides, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap). There was an almost electric atmosphere when a dozen people had turned up at the station at Arna when the news came today. Getting the stretch upgraded has been long-awaited by many for years. In the press release, Ap and Sp write that they are prioritizing the section between Bergen and Voss because the current road and railway provide an inefficient and passable travel route and that there are many accidents on the section. – We are therefore prioritizing money in the state budget for next year. It is a clear signal of the ambition to carry out Arna-Stanghelle. Through the project, the National Road Administration and Bane Nor wish to develop a new solution for roads and railways that is safer, faster and more predictable. Photo: Åge Algerøy / news
