– There is a mistake in the routines, says mayor Bjørn Gunnar Baas (SP) in Åmli. On Tuesday evening, a five-year-old girl was seriously injured after being hit by a basketball rack on the playground at Dølemo Oppvekstsenter. The girl was sent to Sørlandet Hospital in Arendal. The injuries are not life-threatening. – What has happened is just tragic. It’s as bad as it can get for the families, and for us who are responsible for the playground, says the mayor. Agder police district is now investigating whether something criminal has happened. – We have spoken to some of those who were at the scene, and taken pictures, says police officer Morten Tobiassen at Åmli police station. After the tragic incident on Tuesday evening, the municipality is now in the process of examining all the play equipment belonging to the municipal kindergartens and schools. – We do it so that there is no doubt that they are safe when we start up nurseries and schools. There are a total of four kindergartens and two schools in the municipality. – This is something that must happen quickly, emphasizes the mayor.
