29 June 2023 at 10:13 The roller coaster in Sweden was inspected only a few hours before the fatal accident. Two of the sets of wheels on the roller coaster’s front carriage came loose when it derailed in Gröna Lund at the weekend. Only a few hours before the fatal accident, the carriage had been inspected. – There is nothing to indicate that the accident is due to a lack of accuracy or that the check was not carried out, says managing director Jan Eriksson at the Gröna Lund amusement park on Thursday. In its investigations at the scene of the accident, Sweden’s National Accident Investigation Board has determined that two of the wheelsets on Jetline’s front carriage, or bogies, for unknown reasons came loose from their fastenings and thus derailed on Sunday. All attractions in Gröna Lund undergo a daily inspection before opening to ensure that everything is working as it should, including the Jetline. One of the requirements is that park mechanics check the attraction’s bogies. One person died in the accident and nine were sent to hospital. Three of them are seriously injured. According to the police and eyewitnesses, a carriage derailed, and several occupants were thrown out. (NTB)
