Esben Esther Pirelli Benestad can practice as a doctor, but has limited opportunities to prescribe medicines, writes Fædrelandsvennen. It was in February that the Norwegian Health Authority decided that Esben Esther Pirelli Benestad lost her authorization as a doctor, following reports of concern relating to the treatment of people with gender incongruity. Now the Norwegian Health Personnel Board has partially changed the decision to the Norwegian Health Inspectorate. Esben Esther Pirelli Benestad gets limited authorization as a doctor, and loses the right to requisition drugs in groups A and B. The National Complaints Body for the Health Service told Fædrelandsvennen on Monday. Investigation started after reports of concern It was last autumn that the Norwegian Health Authority started an investigation of Benestad. The background was messages of concern that were sent to the State Administrator in Agder. The reports of concern must have come, among other things, from GPs. In February, it became known that Pirelli Benestad, who had worked as a doctor for 37 years, was stripped of his authorization. In the 42-page decision from the Norwegian Health Authority, they stated that they had carried out inadequate investigations of patients with gender incongruence, and irresponsible use of addictive drugs. The 73-year-old appealed the decision. Several reacted to the decision from the Norwegian Health Authority and news has previously written that Pirelli Benestad received hundreds of statements of support after he lost the right to be a doctor.
