Photo: Caroline Utti / news – The verdict shows that when you take children out of a country, there is a severe criminal reaction to it. That’s according to Sjak Haaheim, who is the three children’s legal aid lawyer. – The sentence does not solve anything for the children because they are in Sudan. The chance of the children coming to Norway is very, very low now, and I see no prospect of that assessment changing in the next few years. It is very difficult to see that the Norwegian authorities will have any opportunity in the near future to bring these children home, he says. – But doesn’t the mother have something she should have said in the matter? – There are no options for the mother other than to ask for assistance from the Norwegian authorities. As long as the father does nothing, the father chooses to leave the children in a war zone. Prosecutor Monica Hanø says in a comment to news that she is satisfied with the verdict: – I am very satisfied that the Buskerud district court has followed the prosecution’s assessment of the evidence. – Will any appeals be considered from the prosecution’s side? – It is too early to say anything about now. It is up to the public prosecutor to decide. In that case, there will be a question about the sentencing which was somewhat different from what was claimed. We will make that assessment within a reasonable time, says Hanø. The man’s defense attorney did not want to comment on the verdict now.
