The man from Innlandet was sentenced to 17 years in custody in 2013. It was then the strictest custodial sentence in Norwegian history in abuse cases. He was convicted of drugging five women and sexually abusing them while they were unconscious. The assaults were filmed. After ten years in prison, he was released on parole in April this year. Now he is charged again for having raped a woman on 17 May. Detained for four weeks Police inspector Henning Klauseie tells news that the offended woman has contacted the police and expressed that she was subjected to sexual assault. – It is a sexual assault that is classified as rape, and according to the court’s assessment, it has happened in a way that has been done with the help of threats to have sexual intercourse, says Klauseie. In addition to the sexual assault, the man is also charged with keeping a quantity of drugs in his apartment in his home municipality. On Friday, a detention meeting was held in the district court. The accused was remanded in custody for four weeks. – The court believes it is more likely that he has committed these criminal acts than that he has not. That is what is needed to justify a detention, says the police inspector. Thought there was no risk of recurrence Lawyer Lars Mathias Enger is the man’s defender. He tells news that the man does not plead guilty. – He completely disagrees with the charge, and believes that he has done nothing wrong. He is sincerely sorry to be in prison again, says the defender. The man was released from prison on parole in April. According to the district court judgment, he claims that it was the intoxication that led to the actions for which he has now largely taken responsibility. He has also taken an education in prison and is trying to get a job. The court believed that there was no imminent danger of new serious offenses and granted him parole until 2026. Conditions for parole He must be followed up by the correctional service and comply with provisions laid down by them. During the probationary period, he can be ordered to appear unaffected at the appointed time and place. He must live at an address that the correctional service deems suitable. He cannot change his place of residence without prior consent from the regional level of the correctional service. He must observe the inside times that they determine. He must comply with regulations on employment and activity and cannot change them without prior approval from the regional level of the correctional service. He must refrain from using alcohol or other intoxicating or anesthetic agents not prescribed by a doctor and submit to drug tests. He must accept offers to participate in treatment as long as the therapist considers it necessary and appropriate. He must not seek out or in any other way have or make contact with the victim. This also applies to all forms of electronic contact. Investigating the incident Police Inspector Henning Klauseie says that the police started the investigation into the sexual assault on 17 May. The man is currently in custody until 16 June pending the investigation. Klauseie says that they will carry out technical investigations and interview the victim. – PCs, mobile phones, memory chips and the like have also been seized, which we will examine to see if there is any content that can shed light on what has happened in recent days, says the police inspector. He also says that it will be a question of whether the imprisonment must be extended. – He has been released on parole from a longer custodial sentence, and if he has broken the terms of it, it may be appropriate to reinstate him to serve the sentence from which he was paroled.
