25,000 LO and YS employees are going on strike today after the mediation between the parties in the wage settlement broke down yesterday. Among other things, it has consequences for commuters along the entire coast where 11 out of 16 national highway ferry connections are affected. Among them the three largest, which together have around 25,000 travelers every day: Horten – Moss Mortvika – Årsvågen Halhjem – Sandvikvåg In addition, all ferry connections on the E39 are affected. In addition, some routes will be closed at night and there will be poor provision in the evenings in some places, says Department Director of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration Dag Hole. He has one clear piece of advice for commuters: Allow a little more time for work. The industry is hit hard: – I think it will stop. Several oil service companies are also hit hard by the strike. At Aker Solutions, 2,703 employees will go on strike from Monday. 600 of them in Stord. In addition, several are being taken out in the companies Subshore and Yabimo. Warehouse workers, electricians, and those who work with measurement and insulation are some of those affected by the strike. – There won’t be many left at the shipyard who make the wheels go round. Personally, I don’t think it will take long before everything actually stops, he says. – We were actually surprised. This is really historic here, adds Madssen. 500 YS members in the offshore companies Beerenberg and Bilfinger are also taken out on strike. Other industrial companies such as Hydro Aluminum on Karmøy, Norsk Hydro in Sunndalsøra and Rosenberg Worley in Stavanger are also affected, reports E24.
