Cross-country skier Kristine Stavås Skistad chooses to continue her venture outside the cross-country national team. Her advisor confirms this to news. – This is primarily a choice that Kristine has made entirely herself. The scheme she has been following for the past year has worked very well. She has people who follow her closely many days a week, that is perhaps something she could not get in the union, says Per Ola Gasmann. It was VG who mentioned the matter first. Stavås Skistad herself writes on Instagram that she “Continues the investment in the club”. news has not succeeded in getting a comment from her, but to VG she says the following about the dialogue with the union. – We had a good conversation and we all agree that this is the best solution for me next season. We are in agreement about it and there is a good tone and no bad atmosphere, says Skistad to the newspaper. She will continue this training work in Konnerud next season as well, says Bjervig and continues: CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING MANAGER: Espen Bjervig. Photo: Rodrigo Freitas / NT – We have a good dialogue with her and the team. The important thing is that Kristine continues the good development to become as good a skier as possible. She is therefore not offered a national team place at Kvinner Elite now. Kristine has made a targeted plan where she continues her work to develop further as a skier in the club environment in Konnerud. Expert pays tribute to the choice Stavås Skistad has just put a brilliant season behind it. She won five World Cup sprint races, including on her home track in Drammen. news’s cross-country expert Torgeir Bjørn supports the choice that has been made. EXPERT: Torgeir Bjørn. Photo: Julia Marie Naglestad / news – It’s smart! With the plan she has had in Konnerud together with the coach, she has made impressive progress last season. There is every reason to continue with a plan that has so far elevated her to a world champion in sprints. – Do you think the ski management wanted her on the national team? – It could probably be beneficial for certain other runners on the national team to have her along to some gatherings. But the most important thing is that she is allowed to continue in the track she is in now. It is also good that the Skiing Association gives her the opportunity to decline to join the national team, says Bjørn. Having not thrived on the national team before, Gasmann is also confident that the cross-country star has made a good choice. – It is about the fact that it has worked very well this year. She was on the recruiting national team for two years, and back then it didn’t quite work out for her. She is an athlete who has to train a little differently to the completely traditional cross-country athlete, says the adviser. He emphasizes that there is a desire from both parties, Skistad and the association, to achieve good cooperation going forward. Skistad has great ambitions to continue competing in the World Cup for Norway next season.
