There is a party of six of foreign origin who have been taken by an avalanche. None of them are residents of the municipality. The police confirmed on Saturday that the deceased was a male ski tourist from Slovenia in his 40s. The police received a report about the incident just before 6pm on Friday evening, at the Tverrelva in Storslett in Nordreisa. – A person was dug out of the landslide by someone in the tour group, who then notified the emergency services, says Morten Pettersen in the Troms police district. Nordreisa municipality has set up crisis management, and the municipality’s crisis team is on site, says Mayor Hilde Nyvoll. This is the fourth person to die in an avalanche in Troms on Friday, in three different avalanches. On Reinøya, two people have been confirmed dead after an avalanche took away a house and a barn. In Lyngen, a group of five foreign tourists were swept away by an avalanche. One person has been confirmed dead, and one is critically injured. In Manndalen there has been a major landslide. All persons are accounted for, but a barn must be partially taken. The police urge everyone to exercise extreme caution when driving in the mountains in the coming days and into Easter.
