In Belvidere, about ten miles northwest of Chicago, parts of the roof of the Apollo Theater concert venue collapsed as a result of the storm. The local fire chief confirmed that one person died during the roof collapse, and several others were injured. Two tornadoes were filmed from a moving car. Governor of Arkansas Sarah Huckabee Sanders says that the tornado has caused significant damage in the center of the state. She states that the emergency services are working to assist everyone who is injured. – I have activated the National Guard in Arkansas. They will assist the emergency services, she wrote on Twitter. Passengers were taken out of the planes and taken down tunnels to get to safety from the extreme weather. More storms to come Hundreds of thousands of customers were without power early Saturday morning. The states of Indiana and Minnesota have reported the most power outages, writes The Washington Post. More bad weather was forecast for the rest of Saturday. With reports of severe thunderstorms expected across parts of the Ohio Valley, and the Northeast and across the Southeast United States.
