The evening began with joy and a good atmosphere inside the nightclub, Aleksander explains. – There were so many people and happy people. It was absolutely packed in there. At 01.14, a man started shooting several people outside the pub, which is a famous nightclub for gays. Witnesses say people ran in panic from the scene. Two men in their 50s and 60s have been confirmed dead, police say. 21 people are injured. – Toad surface on the floor Inside the London pub, Aleksander had just gone to the bathroom when the shooting began. – I was supposed to open the door, but could hardly open the door because people withdrew from the stage floor. He saw the fear in the eyes of people, but at first did not understand what it was. – In the door to the dance floor, one stood holding another by the neck. He was bleeding and he said “it’s going well, I’m pushing”, he says. When Aleksander then left the total, the dance floor was something completely different than what he had left just minutes earlier. – All those who had danced lay toad on the floor, for fear of being shot. He was outside the pub when he suddenly saw the perpetrator put a bag on the ground. The man picked up a weapon and then started firing. – At first I thought it was an air force. Eventually the police arrived. The 26-year-old also says that they were told that the perpetrator had been caught, but were told that they should sit there and wait a bit. – We sat there and held each other, he says. Aleksander, who is also a deputy in the city council for the Center Party, then notified his parents. – I sent a message and wrote “I’m fine and no one is dead”, but it was not long before we learned that two people were dead. 42-year-old accused of murder and terror Zaniar Matapour (42) is charged with the murders. He was apprehended by police minutes after they received the first reports of the shooting. The 42-year-old has previously been convicted of several offenses and is known to PST. They consider the shooting an extreme Islamist terrorist act. The perpetrator must have a long history of violence and threats. – PST has had knowledge of the perpetrator back to 2015, with concern that he is being radicalized and part of an extreme, Islamist contact network in Norway, says PST chief Roger Berg. PST had talks with the perpetrator in May, but it was not considered that he had intentions of violence.
