Patient reacts – It took several months before he learned that Nav went through his records – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

– I feel directly violated, says Johannessen. A total of 15 patient records were reviewed when Nav inspected GP Svein Gisle Apeland’s practice. news has recently told about Apeland, which lost the right to print sick notes. This is partly due to a lack of record keeping. – I’m reacting to the fact that I didn’t find out straight away. I have always believed that this journal was between me and the doctor, says Johannessen. Both he, other patients and therapists have in recent days expressed their support for the GP on social media. Johannessen says he has a complex medical history. And has therefore been on sick leave for various diagnoses several times in recent years. Now he is considering suing Nav. – I have no confidence in Nav anymore. I am now contacting a lawyer to find out what I can do. I have no faith that this can be legal, says Johannessen. Spends millions on checks Nav Kontroll has six full-time employees who work with checks on doctors and other practitioners. In addition, they have a consulting senior doctor who assists with medical assessments. Since 2018, Nav has deprived 57 doctors of the right to practice at the expense of the social insurance. This may be because the doctor’s sick leave practice is not in line with the regulations, but also due to a lack of documentation. Department director in Nav control. May Snedsbøl. Photo: Private – This varies from case to case, says the department director of Nav Kontrol. May Snedsbøl. Johannessen thinks it is strange that a doctor who does not know him should have assessed his medical record for Nav. – It should be someone who knows who I am, and who knows my medical history, he says. Too much control Storting representative for Rødt, Mimir Kristjansson, believes that Nav engages in too much control activity. – I am reacting to the fact that Nav plans to waste very scarce medical resources in Norway. A doctor’s primary job is to treat patients. Don’t write journals to Nav, says Kristjansson. Storting representative for Rødt, Mimir Kristjansson, believes Nav has too many controls. Photo: Rødt He will now raise the matter in the Storting. – We should temporarily change the regulations. We cannot have doctors who have to fill in forms and records when there are thousands without a GP in Norway. Figures from the Norwegian Medical Association show that 235,000 patients are without a GP in this country. – I therefore see no reason to have such strict rules when we have a GP crisis, says Kristjansson. He also understands that patients react to the fact that Nav has seen their entire patient record. – I understand very well that they are pissed off and feel misled. This is sloppy in relation to privacy. Can obtain records Nav informs news that the agency can obtain complete patient records if they have reason to believe that the practitioner’s practice is not in line with the regulations. – This is authorized in the National Insurance Act, Snedsbøl informs Nav. Nav makes contact with the patients after reviewing the medical records. – In this case, we sent a request for the records on 9 August 2022. We received them on 13 September 2022. A warning letter to the patients was sent on 21 October 2022, says Snedsbøl. She points out that the Supreme Court has ruled in a judgment that the patient’s privacy is not absolute when it is decisive as part of a control case against the doctor. Snedsbøl has no comment on the fact that patient Hans Einar Johannessen will consider a lawsuit. – The matter is now being taken up in the Storting by Rødt, who believes the legislation needs to be looked at. He believes Nav has too many controls. What does Nav control have to say about that? – We follow the regulations in force at all times, says Snedsbøl in Nav. Hans Einar Johannessen is upset that his doctor has lost the right to call people out sick. – Have you ever been called in sick without being sick? – No. I probably wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for my doctor.
