– I don’t feel confident – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

10 March 2023 at 17:56 Johansson saved by safety strap: – Could have gone really badly For the first time in a month and a half, Robert Johansson was back in competition during Friday’s Raw Air opening in Holmenkollen. However, the qualification did not go as Johansson had wanted, when he clearly got into big trouble from the edge of the jump and landed at 90 meters after a turbulent hover. – We got our hearts in our throats there. What was it that happened? – I got that too. The clip fell out as soon as I left the jumping edge. Then I just hung on to the safety strap, plain and simple, he says to news. In the WC in Planica something similar happened to Peter Prevc. Then he had no safety strap and ended up falling badly. – You quickly think of what happened with Prevc. I was quite quick to be asked if I had a seat belt and if that was what saved me. And it did. Here you can see the reason why people should jump at it, says Johansson. – What goes through your mind when something like this happens? – I just try to be present enough to keep my balance. That you don’t panic. Tighten up your body and try to control where the skis want to go. I think I managed that quite well, as I came driving over the fall limit. I can probably bring some good body control out of it, at least, says Johansson. It is not mandatory to use a safety strap. Johansson believes that it should have been. – It could have gone really badly, he says of Friday’s jump. Race director Sandro Pertile says they will now probably propose an order for next season. – This is a good example, if compared with Prevc in Planica, of a possible solution, he says. The qualification was won by Polish Dawid Kubacki. Halvor Egner Granerud was the best Norwegian in fifth place, 6.6 points behind Kubacki. Johansson was the only one of the seven Norwegian jumpers who did not qualify for this weekend’s race.
