– You are really moved – news Troms and Finnmark

– I think there will be a rush to Iešjávri now, laughs Per-Edvard Johnsen, also known as Molliš Piera, after the trout catch of 14 kilos, which he announced on Facebook. It was Friday morning that he got the real big catch on the hook, when he was fishing on the ice on Finnmark’s largest lake, Iešjávri. After a half-hour battle, the trout was up on the ice. – There are enormous forces in it, says Johnsen about the fight with the giant drought. On Wednesday 1 March, Per-Edvard Johnsen got a trout of 10.89 kilos. – I have only seen one larger trout in my time as a trapper. It was in the last millennium – in March 1989. It was a trout of 12 kilos, Johnsen told kronstadposten.no after that catch, but shortly afterwards a new personal record was set. – It is not common, and it is very big to get such a catch. You get really moved, says the 60-year-old, who does not think he will be able to get as big a pacifier in the future. – I don’t think I will be able to match this catch again. On Wednesday 1 March, Per Edvard Johnsen shared the photo of the big catch, which weighed almost 11 kilos, on Facebook. Photo: Private – It’s absolutely crazy Editor of Fiskeavisen.no, Daniel Tilrem, states that the Norwegian record is 15.3 kilos. According to Wikipedia, it was taken during dredging outside Fossum Gård on Nes by Robert Torp on 1 November 1981. – It’s absolutely crazy, says Tilrem about the capture of Per Edvard Johnsen. – Many people dream of catching a trout of over two kilos. – I have not heard of anything close in recent years. Here you can smell a Norwegian record, and it is extremely funny that that catch was taken in the north. – Must be prepared for a big one Per Edvard Johnsen has fished summer and winter on the lake, which is the 15th largest lake in Norway, since the 70s. Johnsen therefore knows the water very well, and he knows where the fish bite and that the catch can be of the big kind. That’s why he doesn’t drill a small hole in the ice when he’s on a fishing trip. – You have to have a big hole, says Molliš Piera, who adds that there are strong forces at work when a trout over ten kilograms bites the hook. – Everything must be solid, says the big-time fisherman about the equipment you must have when fishing in Iešjávri. – Because you have to be prepared for a storm. That is about the only thing he will reveal about the tools he uses to trick the big catches on the hook. The only secret he will reveal is that it is important to fish in all weathers and all year round. – It is important to be there at the right time, because the big beasts have fixed routes, says the big fisherman, who adds that it is best to fish on the frozen water in March and April. – A very small portion was served Johnsen has left the day-to-day running of Mollisjok Lodge in Nedre Mollisjok to his son, Simen Andre Varsi Johnsen, but according to himself, he works as a boy at the mountain lodge. He is therefore often a guide for the guests at the mountain lodge, and when he got the big catch he had a tour company with him from the travel company Æventyr. Big catch was also on the menu for the tour group. – We have many guests and they would like to taste the catches. So a tiny portion was served to them, says Molliš Piera about what the big trout was used for. – It was of good quality. In addition to trout, Mollisjok Lodge serves fresh tench, char, grayling and pike, which they fish throughout the year to guests at Iešjávri. – There is good food in everything. Among other things, winter pike have a completely different consistency to those you get in the summer. Rescue operation It is not only on the ice that Per Edvard Johnsen has experienced major incidents in the past month. On Monday 27 February, he took out a pair that were weatherproof in a storm on the plain. There were very bad conditions and hurricane-force winds, but the experienced mountaineer managed to get them to safety. – Visibility was very poor, and I kept having to stop. The worst showers lasted maybe 20-30 minutes. Then you have to stand still. You don’t see the ski tips on the scooter once, Johnsen told sagat.no after the rescue operations. – There has been a lot of action, says Johnsen about the last few days with rescue operations and ice fishing on the fjord.
