– I like the concept, I love music and I’m happy to be a person who can support someone, says Christine Dancke. From the autumn, she will take over the role as expert from Mona B. Riise, who is resigning after ten seasons with the popular music competition. The experienced presenter has been central to the Norwegian music industry for a number of years, and has a long career at news. Among other things, Dancke hosted the music magazine “Christine” on P3, in addition she has been the program manager for P3 Gull, the Spellemannprisen and the VG list Top 20. Music means a lot to people, and is an integral part of us. Being able to witness it is a dream, says Dancke. Thorough feedback Dancke describes himself as an honest judge who is concerned that the artists receive constructive feedback. – Giving proper feedback is a form of love, because it shows that you invest time in a person’s work, which you want to realize their potential. – If we had been better at looking at such feedback as a form of love, we would also have allowed greater breadth in the feedback, she points out. It is also important to her that the artists are taken seriously regardless of what they have done before in life. And that they feel welcome. – Stjernekamp must be a safe arena to show off. The 38-year-old has always been involved in promoting new talent, and has a lot of knowledge that she will take with her further in Stjernekamp. – I know genres very well, and I’m not that easy to fool like that, she says and smiles slyly. – I am also good at recognizing a star when I see one. I have eyes and ears at the right time, she says. – A driven music journalist After ten seasons in the chief role, Mona B. Riise has decided to give up, and will be embarking on other projects next time. She feels lucky to have had what she describes as “10 wonderful years in Stjernekamp.” – It has been so rewarding to experience 100 artists who have not only challenged themselves, but also grown so incredibly much during one season, she says.
