For a larger area around the “orange area”, there is also a yellow warning for strong gusts of wind. For Vestland’s part, they can locally reach 30 seconds. Austafjells up to 25. – It is serious that we have reached the yellow level for such a large part of southern Norway, says Fagerlid. – Potential to cause damage The low pressure coming into Norway does not bring with it large amounts of precipitation. – It is the wind that we are most worried about, says Fagerlid and adds that there may be closed bridges, mountain passes, roads, traffic delays and many may lose power. He believes the mountain passes south of Finse may be closed. The strong gusts of wind can also cause damage to forests and buildings. The state meteorologist drew a parallel to last year’s storm which hit the same area, and which caused a lot of damage. – This storm also has the potential to cause a good deal of damage. We received a lot of damage reports from the storm last year, and expect a lot of problems with this storm as well, says Fagerlid.
