Nidaros Sosialdemokratisk Forum’s proposal on power management is subject to changes before it is adopted – news Trøndelag

The editorial committee of the Trondheim Labor Party has changed some of the wording in the Nidaros Social Democratic Forum’s proposal on managing the electricity market. The local team has been critical of the fact that the interconnection of the electricity grid in Norway and Europe leads to high, imported electricity prices. They believe that the right to ensure regulation of exports is important for better governance. The proposal was adopted with some wording changes during the Labor Party’s annual meeting. – Some people ask if we are unhappy that our proposal has not been accepted verbatim. We are very pleased that the editorial committee has unanimously accepted the new proposal, says Trond Giske. He does not see the change as a defeat, even if the new wording makes the proposal slightly rounder at the edges. Giske believes that the most important thing for Nidaros is still involved, namely regulation of foreign trade. This was the proposal from Nidaros: “As long as the export capacity through the last cables to the continent and Great Britain is so large, and the power is traded on the stock exchange, the price of electricity in southern Norway will in any case be like the highest offer in the market, even if it is Norwegian households and companies that buy 90 percent of the electricity and normally only 10 percent goes to export.” The board of the Trondheim Labor Party has changed some of the wording in the proposal: “The EU is now in the process of assessing changes in the power markets that largely decouple the gas price from the power price. Norway must contribute actively to safeguard Norwegian interests in the ongoing work and at the same time do independent work to look at other possible models for price formation within the room for action in the EEA Agreement”. Strong criticism of the government Leader Trond Giske also directed strong criticism of the government’s work with electricity policy from the podium during the first day of the annual meeting. – Why are we where we are in the opinion polls with all the good things the government is doing? I am convinced that the answer is electricity, Giske said from the podium. He believes it is the current that stands in the way of good results for the Labor Party in all areas. – They also stand in the way of support in the run-up to an important municipal election, said Giske. Trond Giske and party secretary Kjersti Stenseng met in Debatten on news on Thursday this week. There they discussed the central board’s proposal to amend the statutes of the Labor Party. Photo: ISMAIL BURAK AKKAN/news – No easy solutions Party secretary Kjersti Stenseng recognized that electricity is an important reason for the Labor Party’s poor polls. – We must by no means rule out that structural changes in the power market are the solution. But there must be structural changes that stand up over time. There are no easy solutions to challenges as big as the current electricity crisis, she said. – By that I am not saying that structural changes are necessary, and we are also considering changes now to decouple the electricity price from the gas price. That may also be true. A new chairman is to be elected During the second and last day of the annual meeting, a vote is taken on a number of submitted proposals. Among these is the Nidaros Social Democratic Forum’s proposal on managing the electricity market. Nidaros has a clear majority during the annual meeting with 149 of 239 delegates. At the end of the meeting, a new leader must also be elected. The election committee has nominated deputy chairman Gunn Elin Høgli as its candidate, but there may be other proposals from the floor, so-called bench proposals. Earlier this week, it became known that Jørn Arve Flått is withdrawing from the leadership race.
