Johny Vassbakk is appealing the sentence of 17 years in prison for the murder of Birgitte Tengs in 1995, his defender Stian Bråstein confirms to news. The verdict was handed down in Haugland and Sunnhordland District Court yesterday, but Vassbakk fainted and was taken out of the courtroom. He did not wish to continue in the courtroom yesterday, and was therefore taken to Åna prison. He was thus served the sentence in prison today. – He does not agree with the verdict and believes he has been convicted innocently, says defense attorney Stian Bråstein to news. He and defense colleague Stian Kristensen have just had a meeting with their client in Åna prison in Rogaland.
