5 February 2023 at 07:21 Former president of Pakistan is dead The former president of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf is dead, Pakistani media reports. Musharraf died in a hospital in Dubai after a long illness. The former president took power in a military coup in 1999, after the prime minister tried to depose him as defense chief. He ruled until 2008, and in 2019 was sentenced to death for high treason by a Pakistani court. The sentence was later annulled.
