Conditions were difficult in Austrian Kulm when the first round of Saturday’s ski flying went off the rails. But jumping ace Halvor Egner Granerud nailed it with a huge jump of 238 meters and leads the ski flying race in Kulm after the first round with five points down to Slovenian Domen Prevc in second place. Austrian Stefan Kraft is currently in third place. Several high jumpers fell far too early under the difficult conditions. Among them was Poland’s top jumper Dawid Kubacki. He did not get it right and is currently in 15th place with a jump of 194.5 metres. Daniel André Tande is the second best Norwegian in 8th place, while Marius Lindvik is in 14th place after his first attempt, which news’s expert commentator described as “a very good ski jump, even with heavy conditions above the ball”. Johann André Forfang just made it through to the second round, with a weak jump of 173 metres. The first half was a big disappointment for Robert Johansson, who has to watch the final round from the stands.
