21 January 2023 at 14:54 Klæbo had a tough fight: – Doesn’t want to be beaten one more time in the sprint Johannes Høsflot Klæbo took his World Cup victory number 60 when he won the sprint in Livigno on Saturday. On the run he was put under pressure by French Richard Jouve on the run, but the Norwegian World Cup leader held off. – I thought that I don’t want to be beaten again in the sprint, then there will be so much control, so we have to get to the finish line first, says Klæbo to TV 2, with reference to the sprint in Davos in December. There he was beaten in the sprint by Federico Pellegrino. Klæbo points out that Livigno is special, with over 500 meters of gentle ascent. – When you get in there, you just want to lay down and scream, he says, and adds: – If you get the slightest bit, you lose meters straight away. But I feel I managed to keep the pressure all the way through ten goals and it was a good feeling. Janik Riebli from Switzerland finished third, taking his first podium in the World Cup with it. Pål Golberg was number four. Among the women, it was Swedish big slam. World champion Jonna Sundling won in his first World Cup start of the season. – I’m relieved. Now I can lower my shoulders. It’s nice to be back, says Sundling to TV 3. Then followed Maja Dahlqvist and Emma Ribom, who also received a yellow card for going to the final without a starting number.
