Shabana Rehman died at Akershus University Hospital on 29 December after barely a year of cancer. She lived to be 46 years old. She lived far too short, said Støre. It is an honor that around 100 people in Norway have received since the scheme was introduced in 1881, according to the government’s website. She performed several stunts on stage, such as when she kissed the then Minister of Culture Valgerd Svarstad Haugland (KrF) and not least when she lifted Mullah Krekar during a debate meeting. Rehman received a number of awards for his commitment. Most recently, Norsk PEN’s Ossietzky prize for 2022, which she was awarded in a private session at home on the farm in Aurskog-Høland last September.
